BVA's Getting Started Guide: Sharing Aircraft

Sharing Aircraft >> Overview | Hosting a Shared Aircraft | Joining a Hosted Aircraft | Tips and Tricks

If you are planning a shared cockpit flight, the following information may be of assistance.

Sharing Settings. Ensure that only the host has "Share my aircraft" enabled. The co-pilot joining the plane should have that option deselected.

Share the Same Aircraft. Both pilots must have exactly the same aircraft (down to the livery that is being used) in order to share an aircraft through an FSX multiplayer session.

Use "SHIFT + T" to Transfer Control between Pilots. It is also good practice to for each pilot to state "You have control" / "I have control" (as appropriate) during any transfer.

Pre-Program the GPS. If using the FSX default GPS, sharing works best if the host initially loads the flight plan before the co-pilot joins the aircraft.

Test Before Flying. Some elements like the brakes don't always transfer properly. It's possible for one pilot to have control of the aircraft, while another controls the brakes. Have each pilot do a full controls and brakes check prior to takeoff to ensure you are aware of what is being shared and what isn't.

IP Address Changes. The host's "private IP address" can change unless it is set up in a special way that would require additional instructions. If you reset your Computer Internet connection, double-check to be sure the IP (e.g. 192.168.1.159) hasn't changed.

We hope you enjoy sharing the aircraft! Please feel free to Contact Us with any questions.
