VATSIM ZBW Boston Tea Party 2015

Recommended Posts

Well, I just shut down after my third flight in this event - my first VATSIM event in probably a couple years.  Very satisfactory with one small exception - a shortcut granted, followed by a freq change, followed by a route change that was worse that my shortcut OR my original flight plan, followed by another request and.... well, I suspect the Controller was getting tired of me, but I finally got a good route.  Thing is, this is very realistic so, actually, I really didn't mind it that much!  But great service and quite a bit of traffic on the freqs.

Anyone else fly the Tea Party?  What are your thoughts?

I'll take the hit for that. You requested direct GARRD, I gave you direct BID. You clarified that you would like GARRD to set yourself up for the VOR/DME 10, and I sent you direct GARRD, and amended your strip to indicate you were direct there. It slipped through the cracks for me to let Y90 know that you wanted direct there for that approach. But I was getting slammed with the ROBRIC/ORW arrival stream and I figured since you'd be transiting BDL and PVD, they're going to ask you for your preferred approach anyway downstream. Sorry.

However, reroutes happen often, and don't see why it should be any different on VATSIM. :)

On Friday:

filed: KHEF MRB V39 ETX V162 HUO PWL V405 BAF V106 GDM KASH

cleared: KHEF ARSNL4.MRB V39 ETX V162 HUO PWL V405 BAF V106 GDM KASH

foreflight confirmation: MRB V39 ETX V162 HUO PWL V405 BAF V106 GD

reroute: proceed direct PWL when down near LRP (not a reroute, but a shortcut)

reroute: cleared KASH ppos LVZ PWL then as previously cleared (when I was about 30 miles from PWL, which required about a 50 degree course change to the west)

reroute: cleared KASH ppos direct LAAYK T295 BAF as filed.

reroute: cleared KASH ppos direct EEN, direct.

This morning on the way home:

filed: KASH JOHNZ V106 BAF V405 PWL HUO V162 ETX V39 MULRR TICON KHEF

foreflight confirmation: V106 BAF V405 PWL HUO V162 ETX V39

cleared: EEN T295 LRP V39 MULRR TICON

reroute: KHEF ppos direct LRP V39 MULRR AML direct.

Coming up on MULRR, received vectors the rest of the way. Was odd as they brought me down the west side of IAD. The last 2 dozen or so times I've come into HEF from the north, they always reroute me MULRR TICON direct, to bring me down the east corridor (between IAD and the FRZ).

So, reroutes do happen. One more added element of realism to the network.

Absolutely!  And reroutes are sure a lot easier to take on VATSIM than IRL.  IRL you may have whiney pax or an impatient customer awaiting a shipment you're carrying; and, of course, "time is money."  But I've found that the only thing that stresses me much about a VATSIM reroute is when my COO (wife) in the other room keeps asking, "Are you done YET?"

Yes, I really do enjoy BVATC and now, BVARTCC!
