April Logan Informer: Cross the Pond is This Saturday!

Recommended Posts

Quote

Cross the Pond, VATSIM’s largest semi-annual event, takes off on Saturday! The westbound event features departures from 6 airfields in Europe starting at 7am ET. Flights departing from these airports fly across the Atlantic, with full air traffic control coverage, to land at one of 6 North American airports including Boston (KBOS), New York (KJFK), and Toronto (CYYZ).

In support of the event, Boston and the surrounding area will be staffed up beginning at approximately 11am ET on April 4. If you’re looking for great ATC coverage with busy frequencies, you can fly in and around our airspace all day. Be prepared for delays and potential holds, especially if you try to fly between KBOS and KJFK, or if you fly into Boston mid-afternoon.

You can also participate in the actual transatlantic flight! If you’ve booked a flight slot, depart as scheduled; you’ll be emailed more information and a route to file on the night before the event. If you don’t have a booking, the recommendation from the Cross the Pond team is to fly between featured event airports and bring a bit of extra fuel: sometimes, the “non-event” traffic will be routed a little differently for traffic management reasons.
