Position Posting - Pilot References Volunteer

Purpose

Boston Virtual ARTCC (BVA) is seeking a volunteer to assist with the development and maintenance of our Pilot References materials. This includes reviewing and updating our existing content, as well as developing new website content and forum posts to assist pilots and non-members learn more about aviation and simulated flying. 

 

Key Accountabilities

• Report to the Community Manager

• Proactively update and manage existing website content using a simple, visual editor (no HTML/website experience required)

• Suggest and develop new content

• Maintain a high online presence

• Function as a staff member and attends occasional meetings as necessary

 

Requirements

• Must be an active member on the network (i.e., flown at least 5 hours in the past month, or 15 hours in the past 6 months), in good standing with a clean history

• Must be a BVA pilot member

• Capable of working well in team-oriented environment, but with a self-motivated, proactive mentality

• Familiarity with the Boston Virtual ARTCC website and community

• Excellent written and oral communication skills

 

Preferred Skills

• Professional writing and community-building experience

• Teaching/Education experience (on or off VATSIM)

• Leadership, managerial, or supervisory experience

• Real world aviation/pilot experience

 

Time Commitment

This is an ongoing position with minimal timelines/deadlines except for those set by the applicant. At most, the applicant would be expected to spend 1 hour per week reviewing or working on content.

The letter of application should summarize the applicant's reasons for wanting to join the staff team, compelling evidence to show how the position requirements are met, how the function will thrive under the applicant's leadership, and why the applicant desires to hold a position as a part of BVA's staff of volunteers.
