Position Posting: Events Coordinator

Boston Virtual ARTCC is currently seeking an Events Coordinator, who will plan and develop BVA events, lead and manage the BVA Events Team, and act as a liaison between BVA and our neighboring ARTCCs for event planning purposes.

 

Key Accountabilities

 

• Report to BVA Air Traffic Manager

• Create and develop events creatively to ensure BVA's presence is properly and frequently showcased on the VATSIM Network

• Ensure events are staffed appropriately, and seek additional controller support when needed

• Use existing or create new airspace splits to ensure a reasonable distribution of controller workload during events

• Promote events for our ARTCC neigbors on the ATC Hub and ensure they are appropriately staffed by ZBW controllers

• Assign leadership roles (TMU, CIC) for events and ensure controllers are briefed properly prior to events

• Manage and assign duties to members of the Events Team

• Assist with planning and make a strong effort to attend BVA live events (Tea Party, Expo)

• Understand VATUSA's event requirements and bid/obtain slots for events in a timely fashion

• Coordinate with divisional/neighboring ARTCCs for event support

• Act as primary liaison between virtual aviation organizations and the ARTCC

• Develop and distribute (via social media, website, etc.) marketing material (graphics, news posts, forum posts, event banners) to promote events, the ARTCC, and the community, or ensure these duties are taken care of by a member of the Events Team

• Maintain a high online presence

• Function as an ARTCC Administrator and attends bi-monthly meetings

 

Requirements

 

• C1 rating

• Active member on the network in good standing with a clean history

• Capable of working well in team-oriented environment

• Excellent written and oral communication skills

• Strong knowledge of the NAS, particularly ZBW and its neighbors, and how event level traffic will impact these airspaces

 

Preferred Qualifications

 

• Current Boston Virtual ARTCC Controller

• Prior ATC Mentor/Instructor experience

• Leadership, managerial, or supervisory experience

• Prior social media management and graphic design experience

• Access to basic design programs such as Adobe Photoshop and Microsoft Office

Following the receipt of your application, successful candidates will be invited to an interview with the Administration Team. As part of the interview process, candidates will be given an assignment that will be submitted to the interview panel prior to the interview. This assignment will involve planning a fictitious event, staffing it, and identifying potential strengths and weaknesses in the event plan.
