  1. Voted! But it was a lot tougher of a choice to choose the arrival airport.... :-\
  2. Did anyone get any shots of the BVA military flyby and initial?
  3. Slow and lazy S turns allows fighters to stay behind the aircraft. They don't need to be nose on. As long as they have a radar lock they can turn and fire in a matter of seconds if the need arises.
  4. We have multiple times during the Washington SFRA Challenge. And a time or two while flying on the server we have been asked by center to check out an aircraft. So I fully expect center to use us where needed during this TFR. And no we cant that slow. But when one is cruising at VNe -1 we can. Just gotta be light and drop gear and flaps. Nothing says "Hi" like an F-18 off your wing :)
  5. I'll make it easy. Here is a link to an article that will inform you... http://www.afhso.af.mil/topics/factshee ... p?id=18593
  6. The last air to air engagement was actually in 2003 when Iraq tried to send up aircraft against us during the invasion. We practice BFM and ACM constantly so that pilots are at their A game and Vietnam does not happen again. If you think that fighters aren't around during a TFR you sir are the unrealistic minded person. Look up Operation Noble Eagle now that it has been declassified and enlighten yourself. If you think that fighters are only used for "war" you are wrong. I apologize if I am coming across strong but I take this as a personal slight. As a member of the Air Force for 12 years I try to conduct our Military Community as we do in the real world.
  7. Any chance we can incorporate something like this more often in the rotation? Seem like Regional Circuits could be replaced sporadically with challenges like this.
  8. I love the idea of this. But I dont think we can simulate the tower response of "blue and green 172 wag your wings" on downwind call to get landing sequence. Other than that I am all for this idea. Since it is my goal to fly in there one of these years!
  9. If you coordinate with the A-team they will let the community do everything. They won't take the reigns. They just might have more resources to get this going in the right direction. I'd suggest pming an Ateam member and asking. Worst they can say is no and we keep it here in the forums
  10. Maybe this could be coordinated through the A-team so it gets more visibility. Not everyone checks the forums...
  11. Don't do this without me! My PC is on the fritz and I'm trying to resurrect it. What time frame are yall looking at to do this?
  12. On UHF we use Winchester (303.0) and Cheapsuit (299.5)
  13. Boogity boogity boogity! Let's go flying boys!
  14. I'm looking to help out on Sat. but im not sure how to label my acft as JOIN ME so people know. What is meant by label? Tail number/callsign?
  15. I really had alot of fun with the latest weather challenge tonight. Even though I never broke out and had to go around every time at KACK and had to quit early due to the ball and chain pulling the plug, I still had a blast. I think we need to have stuff like that more often. Flying an ILS day in day out in vfr conditions can get old. Only way to make us better pilots is to challenge us. I think the bad weather thing we should do bi weekly or at least once a month on the RC's. I noticed a lot more participation at the onset from pilots of this than during a normal RC. So in this "humble" pilots opinion I see that as a great sign. We can fly VFR all the time and thats how we all learn fly. I think the biggest draw for FSX is to fly things we'd never get a chance to and fly in weather we normally wouldn't get to to. So I want to put it to a vote or poll question. Lets do this more often. I noticed even the controllers turned out for it more than the DJ the night before.
  16. I know it might be kinda late to make suggestions but if you east coast people want the full Norcal experience you might consider flying up to KRDD. We consider KFAT more on the Socal side than the Norcal side. Plus you can't visit CA without flying by Mt Shasta which is a stones throw away from KRDD. You get valley flying in Norcal (which we consider SMF and north) and you get a whole whole bunch of mountain flying. If you want a challenge take a 172 and fly from O05 to O89 and try not to hit Mt Lassen. For you MIL guys the MOA we use is the WHITMORE MOA so i expect a bunch of flying to be done there while the getaway is going on. For the scenery team can one of you sit down with me one afternoon in the next week and show me how to build an airport? I wanna make a runway thats on our property but fsx doesnt depict it because it isnt published
  17. My hopes are now dashed for forever
  18. By chance do you mean TUES September 4th and not FRI? I think I should get a gold star for noticing the error :D
  19. That going to be emailed out like the informer is or posted on here? I don't know how much time I'll have to check in here before the middle of next week.
  20. Too bad I can't fly from my iPhone. Im always gone during the fun!
  21. I'm not sure if I read it anywhere but are you allowed to overfly Citifield? I tried it earlier in free flight and ended up swinging a little wide each time without overflying Citifield. And something like that drives me up the wall!
