  1. Congrats, PI! You’ve done fantastic work and I’m excited to see what else you can bring to the table in an A-Team role. Keep up the good work!
  2. Camden, I cannot even begin to thank you for the work you’ve put into this community and the time you’ve spent helping me grow, learn, and mature. BVA would not be the professional, entertaining, and friendly community it is today without your leadership and the countless hours you’ve devoted. I look forward to continuing to work with you (and fly with you) outside these roles, and wish you all the best in retirement!
  3. Congrats HS! See ya in the dark room.
  4. Come join the Boston Virtual ARTCC and Dutch VACC for a long-haul, trans-Atlantic, inter-division jamboree! From 1100-1400z on Sunday, July 29th, we'll have Amsterdam Schiphol Airport (IATA: AMS, ICAO: EHAM) staffed to the gills to accommodate departures, and will have all en route facilities staffed for a flight to Boston Logan Airport (IATA: BOS, ICAO: KBOS), where the Boston Virtual ARTCC will provide a full staff to sequence arrivals and get them onto the ground. Bring your favorite long haul aircraft, your business jet, or whatever you want, and join us for 7+ hours of packed airspace and professional air traffic control. As well, we'll have a detailed pilot briefing released within a couple weeks that will offer details on general procedures that will be useful along the route, as well as specific information on the booking system we'll be using for this event (more information to be released about this later). Lastly, we're excited to announce that this is just part 1 of 2. Later this year, we'll host the "go home" leg of this trip, the same facilities staffing Boston to Amsterdam. These events serve as a fantastic time to brush up on both international and American procedures, and prepare for the bi-annual Cross the Pond. We hope you'll join us on the 29th for this event, and look forward to seeing many of you there!
  5. VATUSA is kicking off our participation at FlightSimExpo 2018 with a bang! The always popular Light Up America event returns as a Live FNO from 2300z - 0400z on June 8th. We are going to staff as many positions as we can live from the show floor in Las Vegas and want everyone who can't make it to Vegas to join us virtually for one insane night of controlling and flying. Our goal, get all 22 Centers online as well as as many TRACONs and Towers as we can. Make sure to join us, whether live and in person or remotely, for the exciting return of Live Up America! Hope to see you there...
  6. Glad you enjoyed, Mike! Hope to see you at our next FNO, the Boston [FNO] Marathon, coming up this Friday (4/13/18)!
  7. It's my life, but it's Jonathan Halverson (HS)'s newest rating on local control! As 747's came in in a Blaze of Glory, a Skyhawk started to Runaway, and helicopters converged to the Bed of Roses to the northern end of the field, Jonathan kept his cool. A Cherokee asked if there were any delays, but sequencing was on point, and he responded "Who Says You Can't Go Home?" I'll stop with the horrible Bon Jovi puns...I do it Because We Can. Congrats HS, keep up the good work!
  8. Congrats ME! Keep up the good work. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  9. Joking aside, please join me in congratulating Madison Allen (AN) on passing his TWR OTS (and acing the VATUSA S2 exam), and his promotion to S2! AN handled a large amount of traffic into PWM, complete with poor weather, VFR inbounds, a Cessna who just didn't want to leave the pattern, and multiple missed approaches. Congrats AN, keep up the good work!
  10. Everyone, Please join me in congratulating Eli Schwartz (SZ) on passing his TWR OTS and acing his VATUSA S2 exam! Eli showed a tremendous amount of situational awareness, handling all the weird request and poor sequencing from approach to avoid conflicts and keep airplanes moving. Congrats again SZ, keep up the good work!
  11. Congrats Vinnie! Keep up the good work! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  12. It's not quite the Caribbean, but from 2300-0300z on Friday, April 6, join the Boston Virtual ARTCC, Cleveland Virtual ARTCC and Toronto FIR for a three-way, international, FNO, cross fire jamboree! Trade in the warm ocean for the Great Lakes; your swimsuit for a business suit; your Oceanic clearance for a de-icing pad; and more! Boston Logan (KBOS), Cleveland Hopkins (KCLE) and Toronto Pearson (CYYZ) airports will all be staffed from top to bottom for your air travel needs. With plenty of air carrier and charter service between the three fields across multiple aircraft types, there's something here for everyone! Preferred routes below, be there or be triangular! 13. Bring the Boss-man back to the Northeast following five years of hard work for VATUSA, featuring KOKC and KBOS! Join the ZFW, ZME, ZID, ZDC, ZNY and ZBW ARTCC's as we help bring VATUSA1-emeritus back from FAA/VATUSA headquarters to the city of Boston. Departures will be from 2200-2400z (1700-1900 ET), and staffing will be arranged along the way, all the way up to Boston. We hope to see you there! 14. Everyone, please join me in welcoming Christopher Knapczyk (KC) as the latest certified controller to our ATC Team! KC passed his Ground OTS tonight at Portland with flying colors, and I have no doubt that he'll be a valuable asset to our staff. Congrats again KC, and welcome aboard!
  15. Congrats DL! On peak local is super rewarding, and just in time for Northeastern Corridor! Keep up the strong work. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  16. I’m planning on attending as well! See you all there... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  17. The New York, Boston, and Washington ARTCCs are teaming up to bring you an FNO like no other! We'll be lighting up the Northeastern United States, renowned for it's busy airline commuter and business service, and bringing service to three of the major metropolitan airports of the area: Boston (KBOS), New York Kennedy (KJFK) and Washington-National (KDCA). We welcome all pilots and aircraft to come and join us for this chance to fly with ATC service in one of the most busy and congested air spaces in the country!
  18. ...and this one doesn't restrict which type you fly, because Sundhararajan Vinodh Sangeetha (VA) has been promoted to S1 and is now certified for ALL class C/D ground positions within ZBW! VA brought a strong work ethic to our sessions, and did a fantastic job. Congrats VA!
  19. Monday, April 16, 2018 is the 122nd annual Boston Marathon, in Boston, MA. On the Friday before, fly the (virtual) runners up to Boston for the event on Monday! The Boston Virtual ARTCC will have Boston Logan International Airport (KBOS) staffed top to bottom from 1900-2300 ET (2300-0300z), ready to accept your speedy flights all night long!
  20. Congrats RQ! Your dedication is impressive, and work ethic is something that many people (myself included) can learn from. Keep up the good work! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  21. February 11th marks the merger of the K90 CAPE TRACON and the Boston Consolidated TRACON (A90). While most of the procedures will remain the same, the old "Cape Approach" will be gone from the radios, to be replaced with "Boston Approach." Join the Boston Virtual ARTCC on February 11th, 2018, from 1900-2300z (1400-1800 ET) to celebrate the merger! We'll have Cape Cod staffed to the gills, including Nantucket (ACK), Martha's Vineyard (MVY), Hyannis-Barnstable (HYA) and the Cape Cod Coast Guard Air Station (FMH).
  22. ...and so does Chris Moyer (MO), who passed his S2 OTS and has been promoted to a VATUSA S2! MO got those planes in and out without a loss of separation, and is now certed for all minor airports within ZBW! Keep up the good work MO!
  23. Everyone, Please join me in congratulating Szymon Puzdrowski (PI) on passing his Boston Tower on peak OTS! PI displayed some of the best situational awareness I've seen, and worked in two arrival flows while squeezing out departures, all without bending any metal. PI is more than ready to continue moving upwards, on to the dark room! Keep up the strong work,
