  1. Team, I am happy to announce that yet again we've had a controller certified for the on-peak A90 Boston TRACON certification! Please join me in congratulating Josh Nunn (NU) on passing his A90 OTS and gaining full certification for one of the hardest positions in the ARTCC! Josh did a great job and only broke two airplanes kept everyone separated and got them in to Boston safely. Congrats Josh, keep up the good work!
  2. If you are a fan of wintry holidays (or even if you aren't), come fly into the Northeast during our combined FNO, featuring New York LaGuardia (LGA), Boston Logan (BOS), and all three of the Washington Metro airports (IAD, DCA, & BWI)! TMU will be active and a briefing will be posted later.
  3. GLad to see another new face join the ranks! Congratulations GL, welcome to the team. See ya on the scopes...
  4. The Boston, New York, and Washington ARTCCs are once again teaming up to bring you an FNO like no other! We'll be lighting up the northeastern United States, renowned for heavy traffic both on the ground and in the air, and bringing service to three of the nation’s busiest airports: Boston (KBOS), Newark (KEWR) and Washington-National (KDCA). We invite all aircraft to come and join us for this chance to fly with ATC service in the congested airspace of the Northeastern Corridor!
  5. Everyone, Please join me in congratulating Chris Raabe (RB) on finally completing his controller training at BVA! Chris joined BVA in November of 2015, almost three years to the day of completing his Boston Center OTS during Cross the Pond Eastbound 2018! Working this event is no small feat; traffic levels are at their highest, and every controller is put to the test. Chris now serves as an ATC Mentor and is active controlling and flying on the network. Congratulations again Chris, keep up the good work! The fun is only beginning...
  6. Clif, Congratulations on your appointment! Throughout my career at ZBW, you've been an outstanding individual, helping lead this community forth and provide the encouragement, nurture, and leadership that continues to make BVA the place it is today. I have every confidence that you will continue to thrive in this new position, and am excited to see what you can bring to the table as ATM, and what we can continue to bring to the table as an administration under your leadership. Congrats again!
  7. Hey Center, any chance of a diversion to Providence? Trying to not crash into someone else tonight...:p On a serious note, congrats HS! It’s been a pleasure to work with you so far; keep up the good work!
  8. UPDATE! Boston has been selected as one of the featured departure airports for the 2018 Cross The Pond Eastbound event! VATSIM's biggest and most challenging event takes place on Saturday, October 27 from ~6:15am-5pm ET. More information at: http://ctp.vatsim.net/. This is a serious event and pilots who are planning to book or fly transatlantic should be flying an add-on jetliner with FMS/routing capability as well as familiarity with oceanic procedures. Pilots flying the event book departure slots for Cross The Pond. Slots are limited, and they typically book very quickly. An announcement will be posted on this thread when bookings will open. The same as last time, bookings made will be estimated slot times (+/- 15 minutes) and estimated flight levels (+/- 1000ft). Actual slot time and flight level will be confirmed (via email and via login on the CTP website) along with your full route on the day of the event. Updates regarding the event will be posted in this thread as well as available on the CTP website. We hope you enjoy the event! Departure slots will be available between 1100z and 1500z from the following airports:- John F Kennedy International Airport (JFK/KJFK) Boston Logan International Airport (BOS/KBOS) Denver International Airport (DEN/KDEN)* Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ/CYYZ) Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD/KIAD) * Departures slots from Denver will run from 1000z to 1300z due to the increased distance. Arrival airports:- Amsterdam Airport Schiphol (AMS/EHAM) Frankfurt Airport (FRA/EDDF) Manchester Airport (MAN/EGCC) Zurich Airport (ZRH/LSZH)
  9. Voting for Cross the Pond (CTP) Eastbound 2018 airfields is now open! Be sure to vote for Boston Logan (BOS). Login at http://ctp.vatsim.net and click 'Airfield Voting' to do so. You are only allowed to select one departure field and one arrival field, so choose wisely! We have been selected for many years in the past as a CTP Westbound arrival field and Eastbound departure field, so hopefully that will be the case this year! Voting closes on October 09 at 2359z. Thank you for voting BOS!
  10. On October 27th, 2018, VATSIM hosts Cross The Pond Eastbound, the annual flight across the Atlantic Ocean from North America to Europe. The departure and arrival airports are not yet selected, so we won’t know whether BOS will be an official airport or not. However, in any case, BVA will have a major presence in this annual event. We encourage our pilots to fly local, or—for the guys who like the tubeliners—to join the fun and reserve a departure slot. Please keep an eye on this thread for more information as the event draws closer.
  11. This event is coming up this weekend! Looking forward to seeing you all there.
  12. Come join the Boston Virtual ARTCC and Dutch VACC for a long-haul, trans-Atlantic, inter-division jamboree! From 1200-1500z on Saturday, December 15th, we'll have Boston Logan Airport (IATA: BOS, ICAO: KBOS) staffed to the gills to accommodate departures, and will have all en route facilities staffed for a flight to Amsterdam Schiphol Airport (IATA: AMS, ICAO: EHAM), where the Dutch vACC will provide a full staff to sequence arrivals and get them onto the ground. Bring your favorite long haul aircraft, your business jet, or whatever you want, and join us for 7+ hours of packed airspace and professional air traffic control. As well, we'll have a detailed pilot briefing released within a couple weeks that will offer details on general procedures that will be useful along the route, as well as specific information on the booking system we'll be using for this event (more information to be released about this later). This event is part 2 of 2. We previously hosted The Holland-America Line in which pilots flew from Amsterdam to Boston. These events serve as a fantastic time to brush up on both international and American procedures, and prepare for the bi-annual Cross the Pond. We hope you'll join us on December 15th for this event, and look forward to seeing many of you there!
  13. Join the controllers of Boston Virtual ARTCC for this one of a kind ATC marathon event! We will be staffing Boston Center, continuously, from November 30 at 1500z until December 3 at 0300z. In addition to the 60 Hours of ATC, we will be hosting our Fall FNO on Friday, November 30 from 2300 to 0300z (1900 to 2300 ET) featuring General Edward Lawrence Logan Airport (KBOS).
  14. Join the controllers and frequent pilots of the Boston Virtual ARTCC for an evening in Connecticut. The focus is on the Y90 Bradley TRACON area, including KORH, KHFD, KCEF, and, of course, KBDL. We'll be staffing up the facility from 1900-2300 ET [2300-0300Z]. All types of traffic are welcome across the area and the entire ARTCC, be it your local flying club doing some VFR, your VA operating scheduled flights, or just a fun little jaunt in your Cessna from point A to point B, we'll be turning up the heat for our controllers and shooting for a busy Saturday night. We hope to see you there!
  15. Thanks to everyone who participated in this year's Boston Tea Party! We all had a fantastic time and hope you did as well. Any feedback can be emailed to [email protected]. We'll see you next August for the 20th annual Boston Tea Party!
