  9. Join the controllers and frequent pilots of the Boston Virtual ARTCC for an evening in Connecticut. The focus is on the Y90 Bradley TRACON area, including KORH, KHFD, KCEF, and, of course, KBDL. We'll be staffing up the facility from 1900-2300 ET [2300-0300Z]. All types of traffic are welcome across the area and the entire ARTCC, be it your local flying club doing some VFR, your VA operating scheduled flights, or just a fun little jaunt in your Cessna from point A to point B, we'll be turning up the heat for our controllers and shooting for a busy Saturday night. We hope to see you there!
  10. Glad you enjoyed the event, Jason! We try and spice things up every now and then, I'm glad to hear this event went well. If you have any suggestions for future hosted events that you'd like to see happen, feel free to send me an email. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  11. Madison, Thank you for the idea. We'll keep this in mind for next year when the summer begins. Thanks,
  12. Everyone, Please join me in congratulating Daniel Nguyen (NN) on completing his Class C GND/DEL OTS tonight at Portland! NN gave out clearances to all aircraft types and routes, and managed to complete an hour of busy PWM without bending any metal. NN is our latest Controller, and I look forward to working with him soon! See ya on the scopes!
  13. *Grabs truck keys* I think I might need these... Congrats GD! I know you've been working super hard, on to A90! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  16. Everyone, please join me in welcoming Alex Petrikas (AP) back onto the ATC team! Alex is a former mentor and controller with BVA and has extensive real world experience in aviation. AP breezed through an OTS at Portland, getting aircraft clearances nearly as fast as I could call in. Welcome back, AP!
  17. We are just two months out from the 18th annual Boston Tea Party. For seven hours on August 19th, controllers from BVA will come together in Nashua, NH for a day of fun for controllers and pilots alike. Not only will Boston Logan staffed to the hilt, but we also plan to staff many of our smaller airports, such as Hartford-Bradley, Providence, Albany, and the variety of airports on the Cape. All airports in the ZBW airspace will have at least center coverage. During Tea Party, you'll be able to share the fun with many pilots and compete for some fantastic prizes in Tea Party Poker. Last year, virtual Boston had more traffic than real Boston did during the same time span, and numbers were comparable at Bradley International. Where ever you choose to fly during Tea Party rest assured you will not be alone. The 18th Annual Boston Tea Party website page is online here, and check out our article in the July Logan Informer! CONTROLLERS: Visit the Tea Party 2017 Board for rostering and event information.
  18. From everything I've heard, both from people involved and from listening to LiveATC, "Climb via/descend via" was executed horribly in Canada. Pilots and controllers had no clue what was going on, it seems to be poorly broadcast, and phraseology was even more of a confusing mess once Nav Canada tried to implement it. The FAA's rules, even with this new change, are fairly straightforward IMO, and from a pilot's perspective it's very clear on what restrictions the pilot does or doesn't need to comply with.
  19. Welcome aboard AN! Looking forward to working with ya, congrats! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  20. Congrats KI! Looking forward to working with ya! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  21. Congrats! If you ask the right questions and correct your quirks you'll be working up the ranks quicker than a quacking duck! OK...I guess the last bit didn't make any sense. Hopefully your phraseology is a bit more coherent. Welcome aboard!
