Boston Virtual ARTCC is Certified as a VATSIM ATO
Camden Bruno replied to Evan Reiter's topic in Announcements
Extremely excited for this, as it creates an additional incentive to complete the flights, which create fantastic and well-educated pilots in the end. Adding onto this, I think the PRP flights enable students to enjoy the experience, as they are flying on the network rather than going through training, 'book work', etc. The program gives pilots the opportunity to learn and gain their ratings while having fun (as LN said). Lastly, congrats to all of those who have completed PRP flights before this ATO status was achieved. You are bettering yourselves as pilots and having fun while doing so! Props to you and keep up the great work. The P2 is not a pre-requisite to the P3-5. The reason we chose not to add it to our program is because the P2 surrounds how to fly the plane, aerodynamics, physics, etc, which doesn't fit the PRP structure. You can view a list of ATOs who do provide the P2 rating by clicking on this link. I think you mean 'yet another reason ZBW is THE best ARTCC on the network ;) -
Thank you all for your kind words. Regards,

Team, I am honored and excited to announce that, as of today, I have been appointed and am taking over as Air Traffic Manager of Boston Virtual ARTCC. Please join me in thanking Francis Dube (DB) for all he has done over the past year and a half. His dedication, passion, hard work, and loyalty will never be forgotten. We look forward to having him continue as an instructor and controller for the ARTCC and, as always, are excited to have him continue his tradition of being on CAPE18 for Cross the Pond. Dube, without your work and accomplishments, the ARTCC would not be where it is today. For those of you who do not know me, I have been a member of BVA for over 2 years and was a member of the Project Vector Team during the merger. Throughout these past years, I have achieved all of my certifications and have been a part of the training staff for a year and a half. Additionally, I was previously the Events Coordinator for the ARTCC. Since the merger, I had retired that position and had moved into a Training Supervisor role, assisting Evan (RT) with training documentation, student/instructor assignments, and more. Considering I am a native of the Boston area, my love for the airspace comes naturally. Other than Oakland Oceanic, I have not yet visited or controlled any other facility in the nation, primarily because I don’t have the desire and nothing would compare to Boston. As far as the real-world goes, I am a Private Pilot (ASEL) and am now in training for my instrument rating and on track to achieve a major in Aviation Science with a minor in Criminal Justice. I also work for a local police department in the position of social media specialist. I am very fortunate to have been selected for this position and am very excited to work with my fellow administrators to maintain BVAs tradition of excellence in the area of Air Traffic Control. By working together and utilizing our previous experience and knowledge, I believe we can accomplish anything put in front of us. Some of the most important aspects of any management group are to be able to work in a team environment, possess energy and commitment, to lead by example, and have a sense of understanding, patience, maturity, and restraint. Our administration team exceeds these expectations and I look forward to maintaining BVAs reputation while bringing new ideas to the table and constantly progressing as a community and ARTCC. For those of you who do know me, you know that I have an open-door policy. That said, I want to reinforce said policy as I transition into this new position. Please do not be afraid to express any questions, comments, concerns, or suggestions you may have at any point in time. You can reach me by emailing me at [email protected], private messaging me on the forum, or speaking to me on TeamSpeak. I look forward to serving as your new Air Traffic Manager and will see you on the scopes or in the sky. Thank you,

BVARTCC's Newest Class C Ground Controller
Camden Bruno replied to Clif Whitten's topic in Recognizing Excellence
Great job so far, ME! Keep up the great work and I look forward to working with you on position. -
Please join us in congratulating Matt Dupree (MD) for earning his Boston Center certification tonight during the Challenge event. As expressed via pilot feedback, MD does a flawless job working on the en-route level and we look forward to having him on-board during peak times. We knew about 5 minutes into the event that he'd have the certification by the end. We're proud and excited to have you aboard! Keep up the great work.

Boston Local's Newest Cab Controller
Camden Bruno replied to Jeremy Valentine's topic in Recognizing Excellence
Congrats HI, great job last night and keep up the great work. See ya in the cab! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
Had the pleasure of monitoring Jeremy Valentine (JV) on Boston Center tonight as he handled it top-down during a busy Sunday night. I am excited to announce that he has passed his OTS! JV handled a very large amount of traffic because of the event at RDU, along with ZBW traffic from BVA Ground School, and more. There were 3 group flights that I counted, all including at least 5 aircraft. On top of this, a plethora of departures and arrivals into Class C and D airports all around the airspace. Throughout the duration, JV maintained situational awareness, clarity, patience, and much more. He exceeds all of the standards set for a fully certified center controller and I am looking forward to controlling with him in the future. As for an explanation for the title, I'm posting this and still haven't told him he passed. Congrats, JV!

Our newest ground controller
Camden Bruno replied to Andrew Miller's topic in Recognizing Excellence
Awesome job, DY! Looking forward to controlling with you on the scopes. -
Please join me in congratulating Nils Backe (NB) for achieving his full Boston Ground certification. Nils posted up for additional training today (yes, the same day as he earned his certification). We went through the book material and he aced it with flying colors. I threw an extraordinary amount of trick questions and random questions regarding KAP routes, runway configurations, departure gates, and more. Yet, I was still unable to get him! Once we got on the sweatbox, I knew within a matter of minutes that Nils would get his certification. I am proud to say that this is the fastest i've ever seen anyone achieve their on-peak certification for Boston Ground after requesting additional training. Keep up the fabulous work and I look forward to working with you on the scopes.

New CTR Controller check-out complete...
Camden Bruno replied to Mike Willey's topic in Recognizing Excellence
Congrats, RS and fantastic job last night. To handle that much consecutive traffic, non-stop, for 4 and a half hours takes skill. And thats exactly what we are here at BVA, skilled. Keep up the great work. Be glad you got almost all good pilots and mainly voice pilots :D Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
Team, Since we began our new ATC training program after the merger, the training staff has been working extremely hard to get the remaining legacy BVA members re-certified for their positions as well as handling all regular training requests for progressing controllers. That said, something we have faded away from is posting when students pass their practical over-the-shoulder (OTS) exams. We have created this new child board, named "Recognizing Excellence" as a designated location to publicly recognize all of the achievements and success of our members, whether it was a PRP flight, ATC practical exam, or a 100% on a recent written exam. Controllers, please keep in mind that any off-peak approval for a Class B position is considered an authorization, NOT a certification. In other words, if you achieved an off-peak authorization and are wondering why your name isn't on the following list, that is the reason. Anyway, here are our most recent certifications since the start of our new training program that were not previously posted. Hajian, Krikor (HI) - Class C Tower Saminston, Sam (SS) - Class C Ground Wygel, Barry (WL) - Class C Approach Alarcon, Rafael (AN) - Class C Ground Marshall, Joshua (JA) - Class B Tower Laba, Bostjan (LA) - Class C Ground Dupree, Matt (MD) - Class B Tower Perrone, Dan (PN) - Class B Tower Please join us in congratulating these members on their accomplishments and hard work!

Members, Please be aware that we are in the process of changing TeamSpeak servers. The previous TeamSpeak server had been a part of the license that included the FSX Multiplayer server, which was previously used by the legacy Boston Virtual ATC organization. Now that the transition to VATSIM has occurred, the FSX servers have been shut down. Steve Ablonczy graciously offered to host a new TeamSpeak server, which will save the organization a lot of money over time. In the next few days as the DNS propagates you will find that, depending on your internet service provider (ISP), you may or may not be able to connect to the new TeamSpeak server. Please be patient as this may take up to 5 days or so. In the mean time, some people will be able to connect to the new server while some are only able to connect to the old. We understand this is frustrating as we will essentially have two servers, however, please bare with us and keep in mind it is only for a short period of time until everyone's ISPs are up to date. If you encounter any additional problems or still can't join the new server after a few days please contact Evan ([email protected]). Thank you,

Houston Operation Overload [11/14/2015 22-02Z]
Camden Bruno replied to Don Desfosse's topic in Events
Just a reminder to all controllers and pilots that this is approaching. I will not be able to attend, however, Houston still needs to fill a lot of positions! If you're interested in being part of a FULL ARTCC of ATC, then be sure to check it out and sign up. Keep in mind some positions require checkouts. http://overload.zhuartcc.org -

Congrats, Jay! Great job and keep up the great work. Not many can say they got their certification during CTP. -
Have had this issue 3 times within the past 48 hours. It's very random. However, I'm going to set it to remember my logon now. Thanks RT,

Hi Bob, If you login to the website and go to Members > Member TeamSpeak, the information is there. Thanks,

Team, Be advised that the Administration Team has made the decision to archive the 'Project Vector' sub-forum. Anyone looking to access any topics, posts, or information which was previously in the Project Vector sub-forum may make a request to administration. Thank you,

That was indeed Chris! :D

Team, Please join me in congratulating Nils Backe (NB) for passing both his Class C/D DEL/GND checkout and his VATUSA S1 Exam with flying colors! He accomplished every task, trick, and problem I threw at him and did so in a speedy fashion. It has been a pleasure training such a dedicated and motivated controller and I look forward to seeing him progress up the ranks in the future. Keep up the great work,

If you go to the events page (http://www.bvartcc.com/Events/CalendarandOverview.aspx) and click on the iCal/RSS feed on the top right-hand corner of the calendar, that should work.
