Voting for Cross the Pond Westbound 2016 departure airfields are now open. Voting closes on February 12th 2359z. Votes can be made by logging into the CTP website (ctp.vatsim-uk.co.uk) and clicking on 'Airfield Voting'. You are only allowed to select one departure field, so choose wisely! Arrival airfields have already been determined by the Cross the Pond Planning Team. To answer your questions (because I've already received these same questions numerous times): No, we do not know if Boston was chosen as an arrival field and no we do not know why the planning team decided to determine the arrival fields on their own. Thank you,

Chuck, We have posted this to our controllers and several have responded. We plan to have BDL/ZBW staffed for you this coming Saturday. Looking forward to it! Regards,

To those who participated in this years Northeastern Corridor FNO, On behalf of the entire Boston Virtual ARTCC Air Traffic Controller Team, we thank you for your participation. Last years event was such an extreme success that all three of the ARTCC’s decided to make this an annual occurrence. That decision has proved to be a great one. Early on in the event, at 8:30PM EST to be exact, the FNO had 260% (3.6x) more traffic than the average FNO on the VATSIM network. Additionally, ZBW handled 73% of the traffic at that time. The amount of pilots who participated and the skill-level of each pilot was truly impressive. We want to emphasize that without the pilots, events like these would be impossible. Your dedication to the hobby, your enthusiasm, and more are what make VATSIM and the flight simulation community thrive. For a full timeline of the event, be sure to checkout our Twitter account @BVARTCC (twitter.com/BVARTCC). For those of you who recognized the hard work of our controllers, we thank you! Your words via private message and social media mean a lot. On top of that, please be sure to file feedback so all of the controllers get the word. You can do so via www.bvartcc.com/feedback. Thank you again and we look forward to Cross the Pond Westbound, BVA’s FNO in April, and more. Blue skies and happy landings, Boston Virtual ARTCC Administration

Thank you everyone for coming to Ground School earlier! Please refer to the top of this thread for an updated Ground School schedule. We have shifted the schedule/subjects. For everyone looking to participate in Cross the Pond Westbound 2016, we will be hosting an Oceanic Procedures Ground School on March 6th, which is a couple week's before Cross the Pond will take place. Blue skies,

As I said in the other thread, thank you so much, Fredrik! What you did is a big help and will make it easier on the controllers inputting the flights as well as the administrators, who have to fix the mistakes whenever they occur. Appreciatively, -
Welcome, HO! Great job on your checkouts.

Reminder: This is tomorrow night! -
Members, I am extremely excited to announce the formation of yet another sub-organization within Boston Virtual ARTCC. Recently, BVA Military was officially approved as an accredited VATSIM Virtual Special Operations organization. The accreditation on VATSIMs behalf primarily consisted of confirming that BVA Military had an adequate, rigorous training program that covers all aspects of United States Military Aviation and would properly educate members on military aviation procedures and tactics. The new organization is comprised of several members so far, including Commanding Officer Chris Raabe and Training Officer Chris Eells. This new organization adds just another aspect of BVAs community and brings even more opportunities for members who may have an interest in military aviation or are even aspiring military pilots! Courses, training, and missions will include but are not limited to MOA procedures, Aircraft Carrier operations, formation flying, aerial refueling, and much more. I look forward to this addition to the community and am excited to see you in the air or on the scopes. Join me in congratulating BVA Military and it's staff for passing their accreditation process and making this community that much greater!

Please join me in congratulating Nils Backe (NB) for passing his Class C Tower OTS. I am excited and proud to say that he will be climbing the ladders of the Class C facilities as head of the cab! I was stunned and blown away with the amount of preparation that NB had coming into his Class C TWR training, it was as if he had been doing it for weeks or even months. His preparation certainly paid off. Although it seems so quick, he exceeded the OTS standards both in knowledge and practical components, all in just a couple short sessions! This is the fastest I have ever seen a student achieve a certification on any level of training. Keep up the great work and you'll go far.

Please join me in congratulating yet another controller for earning his Class C APP certification, Mr. Krikor Hajian (HI). It has been my pleasure to train him, as his dedication, study habits, and preparation always impress me. He sped through the S3 training with a solid knowledge-base and impressive approach control skills. He caught each of my tricks and sequenced all of the aircraft like a pro. Keep up the great work, HI!
-
Join me in congratulating Josh Marshall (JA) for achieving his Class C APP certification. He did a fantastic job with his OTS, creating one of the nicest looking flows i've seen in a long time. Keep up the great work and see you on the scopes.
-
Join me in congratulating Sam Saminston (SS) for acing his Class B GND OTS. He flew (pun intended) through the oral, with an incredible knowledge-base. Then continued on and handled all of the silly pilots who filed direct GPS to LAX, along with all my tricks. Great job and keep up the great work!

Please join me in congratulating Brandon Bergna (BG) on earning his Class C APP certification and S3 rating. BG is a natural when it comes to all things TRACON related. Vectoring was a breeze for him and he handled every one of my tricks, "student pilots", etc. on the sweatbox. Keep up the great work and looking forward to working with you in the radar environment.
